There are lots of things to see and do in and around Eastbourne for all of the family and below we have listed the Top 10 most popular attractions, activities and landmarks on offer.

Beachy Head

1. Beachy Head which is located just east of the Seven Sisters and is the highest chalk cliff in the UK at height of 162 metres. Beachy Head is a perfect location for walkers and cyclists and there are a number of paths and cycle routes on offer. Nature lovers can take advantage of the the plentiful bird watching opportunities and those looking to take a rest can enjoy a drink or something to eat at the Tiger Inn.

2. Sovereign Harbour Marina is along the Eastbourne coastline towards Pevensey Bay and is a great place for any boat lovers as you can see a great array of expensive yachts moored there. The marina offers a selection of shops plus a number of waterside restaurants. Alongside the marina is a retail park with the larger chain shops and a multiplex cinema.

3. Museum Of Shops can be found at 20 Cornfield Terrace  BN21 4NS and has four floors with authentic olde worlde shops, rooms and displays filled with over 100,000 exhibits from a historic period of 100 years. The museum is open 7 days per week from 10am. Entrance is £4 for children up to 15 years and an adult ticket is £5. Entrance for children under 5 is free.

4. Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park is located in Lottbridge Drove and is a fun day out for the children. There are one-eighth scale miniature locomotives that trundle around the pretty country park, a five-acre lake and an adventure playground. Facilities include a cafe, tea gardens, picnic areas and a “railway themed” gift shop.

5. Birling Gap is close to Beachy Head below the Seven Sisters cliffs and provides stunning views of the cliffs, sea and the Sussex Downs. There is parking available and you can walk down the wooden steps to get to the pretty pebble beach below. The Birling Gap Hotel has a bar and coffee shop for those in need of refreshments or comfort breaks.

6. City Sightseeing Eastbourne is another of the popular open top bus tours and this one takes in a number of the main Eastbourne landmarks. Starting from Eastbourne Pier it moves on past the Bandstand, the Wish Tower and Hollywell Gardens before making its way on to Beachy Head and Birling Gap. The buses operate every daily from March to the end of November.

7. Towner is a contemporary style art gallery which hosts various exhibitions and events and is located in the Devonshire Park area close to the other theatres. As well as playing host the Towner also has its own famous collection of art from across the ages. The gallery which also has a cafe and shop is open Tuesday to Sunday plus bank holiday Mondays and entrance is free.

8. Da Vinci Hotel & Art Gallery is the first “art hotel” in the UK and has an art gallery downstairs and the upstairs guest room all have an arty theme. The art gallery exhibits works from local artists and regular exhibitors and each guest room showcases a featured artist. The Da Vinci is all located in the Devonshire Park area close to the Towner and the theatres.

9. The Tour Jester also known as Adrian can be found on Eastbourne seafront and for £5 he will take you on a 1.5 hour walking tour of Eastbourne. Along the way he will point out specific points of interest and historical facts with the addition of a little humour and some funny stories. The tour involves no hills so it can be enjoyed by old and young alike.

10. Murder At The Mowbray is a murder mystery dining experience hosted by the Mowbray Hotel where you can take on a role or just take part in solving the crime. The murder mysteries are perfect for parties and corporate events and cost from £25 per person which includes a four course meal and a glass of sparkling wine.
